Hello!

Writer. Editor. Consultant.

I write fiction that is usually about how to overcome our worst selves and connect with each other. Most of my consulting work is about the same: how to connect and move each other. â€‹

I'm a novelist, essayist, and consultant based in Brooklyn, New York.

I've published three novels with Graywolf Press and Farrar, Straus and Giroux. I'm a Guggenheim Fellow, recipient of the Bard Prize for Fiction, and a National Book Foundation "5 Under 35" honoree. My work has appeared in The New York Times, Harper's, The Yale Review, Tin House, Ploughshares, and elsewhere.

For the past decade I've also run a communications consultancy, Good Talk, where I work with executives, nonprofits, and technology companies to help them figure out what they're trying to say, and to say it better.

If you'd like to work together, get in touch.
